Rulebook Qualifier 2025
Welcome to the Carthage Throwdown 2025 competition! Before signing up for the qualifiers, please take the time to carefully review the standards for each category. This will help you select the division that best matches your level and abilities.
1. Elite Male / Elite Female
Level Criteria:
- Athletes with an excellent technical level, capable of performing advanced movements under heavy loads. This category is designed for highly skilled competitors with solid experience in both weightlifting and gymnastics.
- You should be able to execute heavy snatches and clean & jerks, along with advanced gymnastic movements such as muscle-ups and strict handstand push-ups.
Examples of Expected Movements:- Snatch (Heavy : 90kg+ for men, 60kg+ for women)
- Clean & Jerk (Heavy : 120kg+ for men, 80kg+ for women)
- Muscle-ups ring/Bar
- Strict Handstand push-ups
2. RX Male / RX Female
Level Criteria:
- Advanced athletes capable of performing technical movements with moderate to heavy weights, but at a more accessible level than the Elite category.
- Participants in this division should be comfortable executing snatches and clean & jerks at moderate loads, along with gymnastic movements such as chest-to-bar pull-ups and toes-to-bar.
Examples of Expected Movements:
- Snatch (Moderate: 70-90kg for men, 40-60kg for women)
- Clean & Jerk (Moderate: 100-120kg for men, 70kg+ for women)
- Chest to bar
- Toes-to-bar
- Bar MU
3. RX Master Male / RX Master Female
Level Criteria:
- This category is open to athletes aged 35 and above, with an advanced skill level similar to the RX division but with lighter weights and age-appropriate adjustments.
- Competitors should be able to perform technical weightlifting movements such as snatch and clean & jerk at reduced loads, along with gymnastics exercises like chest-to-bar and, toes-to-bar
Examples of Expected Movements:
- Snatch (Adjusted: 70-85kg for men, 40-55kg for women)
- Clean & Jerk (Adjusted: 90-110kg for men, 60kg+ for women)
- Chest-to-Bar
- Toes-to-Bar
- Bar Muscle-ups
4. Inter Male / Inter Female
Level Criteria:
- Intermediate athletes, capable of performing CrossFit movements smoothly, but with lighter weights and basic gymnastics movements.
- Expectation: Snatch and clean & jerk will be lighter, and movements like pull-ups will be required.
Examples of expected movements:
- Snatch (light: 40-60kg for men, 30kg for women)
- Clean & Jerk (light: 60-80kg for men, 40kg for women)
- Pull-ups
5. Scaled Male / Scaled Female
Level Criteria:
- Scaled athletes, capable of performing CrossFit movements smoothly, but with really lighter weights and very basic gymnastics movements.
- Expectation: Snatch and clean & jerk will be even lighter than intermediate, and movements like jumping pull-ups.
Examples of expected movements:
- Snatch (light: 30-40kg for men, 15-25kg for women)
- Clean & Jerk (light: 40-60kg for men, 25-35kg for women)
- Jumping Pull-up instead of Pull-up
- V-Ups instead of Hanging Knee Raises
- Pull-Ups instead of Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
6. Master Scaled Male / Master Scaled Female
Level Criteria:
- Athletes aged 35 and above, capable of performing CrossFit movements with ease, but using lighter weights and basic gymnastics movements.
- The expectation is that their snatches and clean & jerks will be lighter than the intermediate category, with simpler movements such as jumping pull-ups.
Examples of expected movements:
- Snatch (light: 30-40kg for men, 15-25kg for women)
- Clean & Jerk (light: 40-60kg for men, 25-35kg for women)
- Jumping Pull-up instead of Pull-up
- V-Ups instead of Hanging Knee Raises
- Pull-Ups instead of Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
7. Inter Master Male / Inter Master Female
Level Criteria:
- Athletes aged 35 and above with an intermediate level.
- The weights and movements are adjusted for age, but you should be able to handle WODs with simple movements and moderate loads.
Examples of expected movements:
- Snatch (moderate: 30-50kg for men, 25kg for women)
- Clean & Jerk (moderate: 50-70kg for men, 35kg for women)
- Kettlebell swings
- Jumping pull-ups
- Goblet squats
8. Under 21 Male / Under 21 Female
Level Criteria:
- Athletes under 21 years old with a very high level, almost equivalent to RX categories.
- You should be capable of performing snatches and clean & jerks with moderate to heavy weights, as well as gymnastics movements like pull-ups and toes-to-bar. You are able to perform with advanced technique, but within a framework where the requirements are adjusted for your age group.
Examples of expected movements:
- Snatch (moderate to heavy: 50-80kg for men, 30-50kg for women)
- Clean & Jerk (moderate to heavy: 70-100kg for men, 40-60kg for women)
- Pull-ups / chest to bar / Bar Mu
- Toes-to-bar
9. Team RX (3 Males)
Level Criteria:
- The team must consist of 3 men with RX-level capabilities. Each athlete must be able to perform snatches and clean & jerks with heavy weights, as well as complex gymnastics movements like muscle-ups, handstand push-ups, and toes-to-bar.
- The WODs will be demanding, with heavy loads and complex movements, and each team member must be able to complete tasks quickly and smoothly while working together.
Examples of expected movements:
- Snatch (heavy: 70-100kg for men)
- Clean & Jerk (heavy: 100-120kg for men)
- Muscle-ups
- Handstand push-ups
- Toes-to-bar
10. Team Inter (2 Males, 1 Female)
Level Criteria:
- The team must consist of 2 men and 1 woman with an intermediate level.
- You should be able to perform snatches and clean & jerks with moderate to heavy weights, as well as gymnastics movements like pull-ups and toes-to-bar. The WODs will be challenging, but each team member must be able to complete tasks with reasonable weights and complex movements smoothly.
Examples of expected movements:
- Snatch (moderate to heavy: 60-80kg for men, 40-60kg for women)
- Clean & Jerk (moderate to heavy: 80-100kg for men, 50-70kg for women)
- Pull-ups / chest to bar (at least two athletes)
- Bar muscle-ups (at least one athlete)
- Toes-to-bar (at least two athletes)
11. Rookies Male / Rookies Female
Level Criteria:
- Beginner athletes or those with little CrossFit experience.
- Expectation: WODs will be simple, with basic movements and light weights. No heavy snatches or clean & jerks will be required.
Examples of expected movements:
- Air squats
- Push-ups
- Burpees
- Light dumbbell snatch
